Kenneth M. Swartley
This endowed scholarship was established by Kenneth Swartley '53 in memory of his wife, Barbara Jones Swartley, who graduated with a degree in elementary education from Shippensburg State Teachers College (now SU) in 1950. Barbara was involved in numerous campus activities and sports while at Shippensburg State Teachers College, and she taught in the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District. Kenneth and Barbara had a strong connection with their alma mater and served in various volunteer roles. They were charter members of the Parents Advisory Committee and involved with the Shippensburg University Foundation's phonathon. In recognition of their dedication to Shippensburg University, Kenneth and Barbara were presented the Exceptional Service Award in 1989.
