Carol Ann Henicle

This scholarship was established through the estate of Carol Ann Henicle. While at Shippensburg State College, Carol was a member of the Women's Athletic Association (WWA), the Elementary Club, the Prom Committee, served as Secretary on the Senate Social Committee, joined the Masquers and the Raiderettes, and participated in Intramural sports. She graduated from Shippensburg in 1966 with a B.S. in Elementary Education/Speech Sequence and went on to complete her graduate work at Penn State University. Carol began her teaching career at Shadyside Elementary in Suitland, Maryland, where she taught students for two years in first and third grades. She then moved to Waynesboro and taught second grade for 33 years at Hooverville Elementary School. She retired from public school teaching in 2001. 
     In March of 2002, Carol began substitute teaching in the Waynesboro Area School District.  During the next few years she reconnected with Shippensburg University, and in 2004 began teaching at a Mobile Agricultural Science Laboratory for the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Since 2002 she served on various Shippensburg alumni committees including Homecoming, Alumni Days, and First-year Student Move-In Day. Carol was appointed to the Alumni Board of Directors from 2006-2010 and has served on the Advisory Board for the College of Education and Human Services.
