Jeane Eschenmann
Dick and Jeane Eschenmann first took an interest in Shippensburg University athletics in the early 1960s. Following Dick's retirement from the federal government, their support of numerous athletic teams continued to grow, along with their interest in other areas of the University community. Their volunteer work includes Jeane's term as president of the former Century Club, Vice President for Fund Raising and Development for the Festival Chamber Orchestra Association, and co-chair of Shippensburg University Foundation's Friends of Old Main Annual Fund gift club.
They were the proud parents of two Ship alumni, H. Richard Eschenmann II, class of '68 and Dr. K. Kurt Eschenmann, class of '73. In 1992, the General Alumni Association recognized Dick and Jeane’s contributions to the university by awarding them honorary Shippensburg University Alumni status. The following year, Dick and Jeane received the Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce Common Ground Award honoring them as a couple "who have uniquely served the cause of fostering better relations between Shippensburg University and the community of Shippensburg." During the award presentation, Shippensburg University President, Anthony Ceddia, recognized them for their support of the university's sports programs. Their faithful attendance and special interest in the women’s basketball program led Jeane to create the Dick and Jeane Eschenmann Athletic Scholarship Fund and the Dick and Jeane Eschemnann Hustle Award in 2004.
