Capt. William S. Reid
Capt. William S. Reid established the Fay Emily Reid Memorial Field Hockey Scholarship Fund in 2012. It will forever benefit the student-athletes of Shippensburg University's field hockey program, in loving memory of Mrs. Fay Emily Reid, his wife of more than 61 years. A 1943 graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College, Fay was active in various clubs and sports while she prepared for the teaching profession. During her time on campus, she met classmate and future husband William Reid.
While Mrs. Reid did not pursue a classroom career, she used her talents to nurture and raise two sons, Keith and George. Likewise. she was always supportive of her husband's career in the field of aviation and of his service to our county as a World War II Navy pilot and U.S. Naval Reserve officer. Mrs. Reid passed away on December 16, 2004.
