John L. Prokop
This scholarship is established as a memorial tribute to John L. Prokop's father, Ignatios Prokop, and to his mother, Anastasia. Ignatios Prokop was born and raised in Greece, and he attended the Seminary there. John's mother, Anastasia, was also born and raised in Greece, and she was an elementary school teacher. Ignatios and Anastasia met in the United States and later married
John L. Prokop earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1957, as well as a Master of Science degree in Vocational Psychology/Counseling in 1973. He also earned a Master of Education degree in Counseling Psychology in 1959 from Penn State University. He had a distinguished career as a teacher, counselor, advisor, and administrator. He was an active member, officer, and volunteer with numerous educational, professional, and community organizations, as well as providing service to his church. At his Shippensburg alma mater, John chaired the Act 101 Advisory Board and worked with the Alumni Admissions Program.
