Mr. William M. "Rocky" Rees
Patricia Rees, wife of football coach Rocky Rees and mother of Shippensburg University alumnus Meghan, lived her life with great dignity, love for others and a bright spirit. Stricken with severe medical problems at birth, she led a fulfilling life that touched many people wherever she was.
Her most fulfilling roles were as mother and teacher. An elementary and special education teacher, she delighted in making a difference in the lives of children. Her genuine caring attitude for everyone she came in contact with would leave a lasting legacy of people whose life she affected. She was a wife, mother, teacher, Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, church worker, arts council chair and member, regional coordinator of a medical support organization, worked for community and charity organizations, and a college cheerleading advisor, all while fighting a long battle with illness and physical limitations.
Friends of Patti established this scholarship in her memory. Since education, football, and concern for others was such a great part of her life, it is intended to be given to a deserving SU football player who demonstrates qualities such as courage, dedication, positive spirit, concern for others, and teamwork.
At Rocky's passing, additional gifts were make to this scholarship in his memory and his name was added to the scholarship.
