Shirley Fry Fox
Samuel L. and Velva Divan Daihl had long careers as educators. After retiring from teaching in 1965, Velva became the student teacher supervisor at Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg University). Samuel was a science teacher in the Shippensburg Joint School District. In an interview towards the end of her life, she commented on their lives as teachers. "Although the salaries and retirement were minimal," she said, "the rewards were immeasurable. We enjoyed teaching and treated the children as partners.”
