Vesta Brenize Pittman
Coming from philanthropic parents, Mrs. Vesta Brenize Pittman recognized that her mother and father were her role models and the source of her desire to assist others. This scholarship, established by Mrs. Pittman in 2006, continues her family tradition of giving and will forever provide Shippensburg University students with some of the same opportunities that she enjoyed.
A 1943 graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College, Mrs. Pittman was a four-year member of the field hockey team as a goal-keeper. Academically, her dedication was rewarded with an invitation to join Kappa Delta Pi, the national honor society in education. While limited to members of Shippensburg University's field hockey team, this scholarship also has an academic component that reflects Mrs. Pittman's strong belief that student-athletes must also perform well in a classroom setting.
