Michelle Hovis, John Martin and Chris Huber
This endowed scholarship was established by Alan Potena's wife, Michelle Hovis, in conjunction with John Martin of WGTY/WGET and Chris Huber of WSBA/WARM who felt this would be an appropriate and meaningful way to remember Alan D. Potena, who died in an automobile accident in 1994 at the age of 33. Alan graduated from Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg University) in 1982 with a degree in communications. He began a career in radio sales and eventually was named general sales manager of a Chambersburg, PA, radio station. He also taught a radio advertising sales class at Shippensburg University. Alan was involved with many nonprofit organizations and desired to make a difference in his community.
