G. Leonard Fogelsonger Foundation
Mr. Ned R. Fogelsonger ’71 graduated from Shippensburg State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he worked at the G. Leonard Fogelsonger Insurance Agency, the family-owned business of which he later became president. He continued his education throughout his career. In 1983, Ned was admitted into the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC). He received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) diploma and professional designation in 1991 from The American College, Bryn Mawr.
Through his leadership, dedication, and spirit, he contributed greatly to the Shippensburg community. Ned served on the board of directors for Orrstown Bank and Orrstown Financial Inc. and the Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce, where he also served as president. He was actively involved with the Shippensburg United Way, Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, as well as the Lions and Rotary Clubs.
Ned’s commitment and loyalty to Shippensburg University were just as strong. In addition to his annual financial support, Ned contributed to his alma mater by serving in various volunteer roles.
In recognition of his dedication to the community and his professional excellence, Ned received numerous accolades. In 1975, he received the National Life Underwriters Association national quality award. Shippensburg University honored him in 1985 with the Common Ground Award. He received the Gavel Award in 1981 from the Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the Outstanding Man of the Year Award presented by the Shippensburg Jaycees.
The G. Leonard Fogelsonger Foundation established this scholarship in memory of Ned R. Fogelsonger and in recognition of his dedication to the community and professional excellence.
