Linda L. Miller and William J. Murray, Jr.

The Linda L. Miller Scholarship Endowment Fund was established in 2009 by Linda's husband William J. Murray Jr.  It was a tribute to her career accomplishments associated with her alma mater, Shippensburg University, as well as a gift for their 20th wedding anniversary.
Linda's ties to alumni work and fundraising for her alma mater go back to her days as a student. In 1976-77, she served as one of the first student editors of the then Alumni News.
After graduating in 1977 with a degree in Communication/Journalism Linda's career has included service to nonprofits as director of communications for PA Newspaper Publishers' Association, director of alumni affairs for Shippensburg University, executive vice president for PA Society of Association Executives, director of communications for Milton Hershey School, sales and marketing representative for continuing care retirement community Messiah Village, and director of major gifts with Shippensburg University Foundation.
As alumni director at Shippensburg from 1982-85, she reinvigorated alumni chapters and initiated several new ones, started the Student Ambassadors program, served on the administrative committee to create the SU Athletic Hall of Fame, served as campus coordinator for the United Way campaign, staffed the fall phone-a-thons, and initiated a career information network to match students with alumni in career fields. In collaboration with the Admissions Office, she recruited alumni volunteers to be student recruiters as well as hosts of welcoming events for newly enrolled students and their families.
Linda served as the SU Foundation’s designee on the SU Scholarship Committee and served on the Alumni Board and advisory council for the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center.
