Coach Kaiser touched the lives of hundreds of students while serving as Shippensburg University's head coach of Cross Country and Track & Field. He was an assistant coach from 1974 to 1977, and head coach from 1977 to 1981. He returned to the position during the 1983-1984 academic year. Mr. Kaiser remained as head coach until stepping down in 1990.
During his years as head coach, Paul built Shippensburg University's Cross Country team into a national powerhouse in just a few years. The team placed 17th at the NCAA Division II national championships in 1978 and eighth in 1979. In the fall of 1980 Shippensburg finished ninth at the national meet.
Shippensburg University's Track & Field program also flourished under the direction of Coach Kaiser. Under his leadership, the team achieved a 60-11 record in dual meet competition, including four undefeated seasons (1984-1987). Additionally, Shippensburg's Red Raiders captured the PSAC Track & Field Championship in 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1990.
