Alen and Tammy Ovejera
Alen and Tammy Ovejera want to help a deserving Shippensburg University student-athlete in need with this scholarship. Their daughter Tamara, a member of the Shippensburg University Track and Field team, loved helping others in all aspects of life. She stood up to bullies, she gave money to others in need even though she had little, she spent hours mentoring others who would ask for help, and she spent hours of her spare time coaching younger throwers on the track team in the rain and cold even if it meant getting sick. This scholarship will provide a little help to a student, so Tamara can continue helping others as she loved doing here on Earth.
Tamara was a fierce competitor in the throwing ring, winning four PSAC Conference Championships in women's indoor and outdoor track and field shot put throws and discus throws. She held the Shippensburg University records in the indoor shot put, outdoor shot put, discus, and hammer throws. She set these records and earned Second Team All-American Honors while unknowingly battling a rare heart disease, which eventually took her life while a student at Shippensburg University.
