Beverly Barnhart Herr, James W. Barnhart, and Theodore Nelson Barnhart III
The Barnhart family has been connected to Shippensburg University for many generations. John Barnhart and his son James helped prepare and construct the stone foundation for Old Main by using a team of horses. James’ three children attended Shippensburg State College, one of whom was Theodore. He married Blanche, and both taught in the Hanover School District for 43 years. Their three children graduated from Shippensburg University. Furthering the family tradition, several children from this subsequent generation attended SU.
