Frank E. and Johanna G. Reeder
Frank graduated from Shippensburg State College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science. He also received a Master of Education in Mathematics from Shippensburg in 1980. Johanna graduated from Shippensburg in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary School Social Studies.
Following their graduation, Frank and Johanna began teaching careers in the West Perry School District and married in 1971. In 1975 Frank transferred to the Cumberland Valley School District and retired in 1999 after teaching middle school mathematics there for 24 years. Johanna concluded her teaching career in the Big Spring School District with retirement in 1999 after teaching social studies there for 20 years. Their daughter also graduated from Shippensburg with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2003.
Both Frank and Johanna recognize and appreciate the ample and positive return received from their Shippensburg education and investment. Four to five years with the "Shippensburg experience" was effectively parlayed into rewarding and satisfying careers of more than thirty years each. The scholarship the Reeders have created will assist and now make it possible for qualified and deserving students to receive a quality education that may not have been previously attainable.
