Hong and Susan Rim

Dr. Hong Rim, Professor of Finance, established the Dr. Hong and Mrs. Susan Young Rim Finance Scholarship to provide scholarship assistance to students who will make their professional careers by majoring in Finance in the John L Grove College of Business at Shippensburg University. Dr. Rim joined Shippensburg University in 1986, where he taught various Finance courses such as Financial Management, Advanced Financial Management, Global Financial Management, Investment Analysis (MBA), and Applied Financial Analysis (MBA). Dr. Rim also served as department chair for six years (2002-2008). Dr. Rim enjoyed his profession, and the business students he taught gave him various positive experiences and friendships, especially through the IMP (Investment Management Program) which enables students to have hands-on experiences in investment and portfolio management in the John L. Grove College of Business. 
      A native of Korea (Taegu), Dr. Rim received his baccalaureate (Mathematics) from Korea University (1973) and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance at Seoul National University (1979, Korea). He earned his Ph.D. in Finance at Penn State University in 1986. With a BSBA degree in Mathematics, Dr. Rim taught at high schools for three years and worked at SK Corporation (Seoul, Korea). With his MBA degree, he worked for two years (1979-1981) as a research fellow at KDI (Korea Development Institute), which is the main economic policy-making institute, to develop the three 5-year economic development programs in Korea.
