Gary and Laurie Szukalski
Gary and Laurie Szukalski were childhood sweethearts. They met at Cumberland Valley High School when they were both on the water polo and swim teams. At Cumberland Valley, both Gary and Laurie were named high school All-Americans for water polo. After graduation, Gary enrolled as a Computer Science major at Shippensburg University and two years later Laurie attended the University pursuing a degree in Education. As talented student-athletes, they continued training and swimming competitively for Shippensburg University. Gary graduated in 1984 and married Laurie before her graduation in 1986.
In 2014, Gary became the Chief Marketing Officer for Darktrace, one of the world's fastest growing cyber defense companies with a fundamental new approach to helping organizations manage the risk of advanced cyber-attacks, including insider threat. Laurie transitioned her swimming career into coaching students at the high school and club level.
Gary became a volunteer member of the Raiders Club Board of Directors in 2013. In 2015 the Szukalski's established the Gary G. and Laurie J. Szukalski Swimming Scholarship to benefit talented high school graduates who intend to become members of the men's or women's swim team.
