Gerald and Janice Regan
This Janice Weisgerber Regan Athletic Women's Award was established by Janice Weisgerber Regan '85 and Gerald Regan '83, '85M to honor the 1981-1984 Shippensburg University women's tennis team. This tennis team won the first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship in the history of women's sports at Shippensburg University.
Janice came to Shippensburg University in the fall of 1981 and helped the Lady Raiders put together one of their best seasons in team history (11-0). The team also won the PSAC Championship in 1983 and 1984. Janice won conference titles in 1983 and 1984, and at the time of her graduation in 1985, she had the second highest number of wins in team history with 82. She also held the Shippensburg University record for most consecutive doubles wins (17) with her doubles partner, Judy O'Connell Lawes. Dr. Sally "Doc" McGrath was the coach and mentor of the women's tennis team. She instilled in each team member the values of hard work, sportsmanship, communication, commitment, discipline, leadership, teamwork, and money management.
