Neil and Karen Bashore
Karen and Neil Bashore went to Hershey High School and graduated in the same class. They both attended Shippensburg State College with the intention of meeting new people. As fate would have it, they started dating halfway through their freshman year and married after graduating in 1970. Later they each received their master’s degrees from Shippensburg University. Karen graduated in Elementary Education and taught first grade and Neil graduated in Secondary Mathematics and taught at the high school level. After several years as educators, they pursued other business activities.
Karen and Neil have created two scholarships, one for an elementary education major and one for a mathematics major. The scholarships are to provide the recipients with an opportunity to develop a foundation for success. They encourage the recipients, if possible, to give the same opportunity to future generations.
