Martin Harnish and Linda Mauger-Harnish
Shippensburg University provided Linda Mauger-Harnish and Martin Harnish with more than just a degree; it gave them the foundation to build a successful and meaningful life. Without Shippensburg, they would have never met the love of their life, lifetime friends, or acquired the education that opened doors. It is their intention to provide that same foundation to other deserving students.
Commitment and helping others have been the cornerstone for success in their marriage, family, and life. Upon graduating from Shippensburg University in 1986, Martin joined the United States Air Force. After Linda graduated in 1987, she moved to the Washington, D.C. area to begin her career. In 1989, a year after Martin returned to the U.S. from Korea, Linda and Martin were married and moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida.
After the military, Martin and Linda remained in Florida, and Martin embarked on a successful career in the information technology industry. Linda continued her education by obtaining various professional designations and her master’s degree in business administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. Following a career of over 20 years in Human Resources, Linda launched an encore career that allows her to use her skills from corporate America to help seniors and youth in need.
Throughout their lives, Linda and Martin have been involved in organizations that help others. While attending Shippensburg University, Martin was a brother and president of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, and Linda was a founding sister and president of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority.
This scholarship is a way for Martin and Linda to give back by leaving a legacy for future generations. It is their intention that the scholarship be awarded to students who otherwise would be unable to attend an institution of higher learning due to their financial need.
