Robert and Lorie Klinger

Both graduates of Upper Dauphin Area High School, Robert (Bob) Klinger and Lorie Miller decided to pursue their business degrees at Shippensburg State College. In 1979, Bob earned a degree in Marketing, and Lorie a degree in Accounting. Shippensburg provided them with the foundation to build successful careers in the business world. Now they would like to help other students do the same.
After graduation, Bob and Lorie married and moved to Arizona where Bob would help his father start a new endeavor in the Jojoba business starting from the ground up. Lorie started her career as a staff accountant for a private company, earned her CPA, and later became the Corporate Controller for the same company.
In 1991, they decided to return to Pennsylvania, start a family and run the family business Klinger Lumber. Klinger Lumber was established in 1956 by Bob's father Earl, and Bob expanded the business over the past 25 years where he continues as President. Lorie also works for Klinger Lumber as the internal accountant.
Bob and Lorie both felt Shippensburg played an integral part in preparing them for life, their careers, and achieving their goals. With this scholarship, they hope to further the careers of students who will follow in their footsteps and become successful in the business world.
To all the students who will receive this scholarship, Mr. and Mrs. Klinger state the following, "Take responsibility to steer your own course, though the road may seem impossible at times, the rewards of hard work and dedication will allow you to further your ambitions. Mostly, stay true to yourself and your beliefs."
