Rob Berkebile
W. Robert Berkebile, “Berk,” ran cross country and participated on the track & field team at Dover High School in York County, PA. After graduation, Berk attended Kutztown University for one year before transferring to Shippensburg University, known then as Shippensburg State College. He joined the cross country and track & field teams as a distance runner (800 meter run through the 5000-meter run). Berk appreciated his years at “Ship” as a distance runner enjoying much personal and team success. The relationships and fond memories gained at Ship are forever ingrained in his heart and mind. The intangible skills learned as a distance runner at Ship such as dedication, commitment, perseverance, hard work, and teamwork have had a significant impact on Berk personally and professionally.
Berk graduated from Ship in 1985 with BS in Business Administration with a dual major in accounting and finance. Berk began his public accounting career with Miller & Co LLP’s Chambersburg office. In 1988, Berk earned his Certified Public Account (CPA) license, and in 1990 he earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. After 39 years in public accounting and being a partner with four different CPA firms since 1996, Berk will retire on December 31, 2024. The last 12 years have been as a Partner with RKL LLP in York, PA. Berk had the privilege of serving on the RKL Board of Directors from 2017 through 2023 including as Chair of the Board from 2020 through 2023. During Berk’s professional career, he has been committed to philanthropy through his time, talents, and financial resources to Ship and many other worthy nonprofit organizations in York County, PA, including serving on many boards which he will continue through his retirement.
Berk’s desire is to help distance runners join the Shippensburg University men’s cross country and track and field teams to reap the same experiences, values and benefits which have helped to shape him personally and professionally.
