Marjorie Hanks
Mrs. Marjorie Keck Hanks '43 and her late husband, Dr. Charles J. Hanks '42, were loyal alumni of Shippensburg State Teachers College, now Shippensburg University. Having met at Shippensburg and later marrying, they enjoyed a wonderful life together.
Marjorie, originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was active while attending college. She played the violin in the orchestra, was involved with swimming, and was a cheerleader. She greatly enjoyed her years at Shippensburg and highly valued the education she received.
Marjorie's dedication to students and education was exemplified in her more than 30 years of teaching at the primary level. Her desire to help young women receive a higher education led to the establishment of her scholarship.
