James "Jim" and Norma-Jean "NJ" Frey
James “Jim” Frey graduated in 1975 with a BSBA degree and in 1977 with an MBA degree both from Shippensburg University. Jim and his wife, Norma-Jean “NJ,” know the importance of higher education. They established this scholarship to help future students with their tuition and academic fees expenses.
Jim worked in the Information Technology Department for 35 years and retired in 2007 as Director of Application Development at Shippensburg University. He and his staff were instrumental in automating the entire campus to computers terminals and later personal computers with the first real-time update DMS Purchasing system. He oversaw the implementation of many of the online systems on the University website. In 2002, he was part of a team implementing the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s (PASSHE) SAP personnel and financial systems for all the universities in PASSHE. Before retirement, Jim was part of a team installing Point of Sale (POS) systems throughout the university in the dining halls, student union building (CUB), and the library. He passed away in April 2024.
