Jeffrey and Melissa Bashore
Shippensburg University and the John L. Grove College of Business provided Jeff Bashore with an exceptional education and many opportunities to grow as a leader during his time at the university from 1998 to 2002. Jeff graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in General Business Management. Those treasured experiences served as the foundation and launchpad for a successful career in financial services. At Shippensburg, Jeff was very active with student government, serving as class president from freshman through junior year, senior senator on the student senate, and as a member of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity. He also served as a judicial affairs officer, admissions tour guide, and delivered the morning news for the campus radio station during his freshman year.
Jeff credits Shippensburg University for helping him secure a meaningful internship at Hershey Foods and multiple full-time job offers after graduation, all of which stemmed from opportunities provided by the university’s career center. The internship at Hershey was formative in shaping Jeff’s career path, which ultimately led him to join Citibank in their Operations and Technology Management Development program. Through that experience, Jeff discovered an interest and passion for fraud risk management. Throughout his 20+ year career in financial services, Jeff held numerous leadership roles at Citi, taking on increasing responsibilities both within the United States and through global assignments. He continued to gravitate back to fraud risk management practitioner roles, ultimately leading Fraud & Claims Operations for North America at Citi before becoming Head of Fraud Risk Management at Bank of America (Consumer & Small Business divisions). Currently, he serves as the Head of Financial Crimes at USAA with responsibility for fraud risk management, anti-money laundering, member identity and claims/disputes management.
Jeff has remained committed to giving back to the university with his time and financial support by serving on the John L. Grove College of Business Advisory Board since 2021. The Bashore Family Scholarship was established to support students and enable them to remain engaged in their studies and extracurricular development at Shippensburg. Jeff and Melissa’s greatest hope is that the modest financial support offered through this scholarship serves as a steppingstone for future generations of students in the John L. Grove College of Business to help them pursue their dreams, achieve personal and professional success, and perhaps one day be in a position to give back to the Foundation in support of the university as well.
