Heather A. Reed
Heather was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and raised in Pottstown, where she developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for opportunity. As a first-generation college student, she arrived at Shippensburg University with limited guidance and uncertain direction. However, Ship provided her with not only a rigorous education, but also a supportive environment that shaped both her professional and personal identity.
Heather discovered her passion for human resources through a student aid position in the Career Development Center—an experience that laid the foundation for a career that has taken her from an intern in human resources to serving as a strategic advisor to technology executives in a Fortune 500 company.
During her time at Ship, Heather was actively involved in student life, serving as a cheerleader, a founding member and first president of the Xi Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, and a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council. These formative roles helped her develop leadership skills, build confidence, cultivate a lifelong commitment to service, and recognize the value of leaving a lasting legacy.
Now residing in Texas, Heather remains deeply connected to Ship. She continues to give back through mentorship, campus involvement, and support of student programs. Her motivation for establishing this scholarship is rooted in gratitude and a desire to inspire students considering careers in human resources to pursue their goals with confidence.
