Dennis and Linda Best
Dennis H. and Linda L. Deaven Best established the Marian Lehman Deaven Memorial Scholarship in memory of Linda's mother. Her biggest desire was to see her children attend college. Her middle daughter, Linda L. Deaven Best, attended Shippensburg State College.
Financially, it was not easy for Linda to attend college. She took out loans, worked in the Admissions Office and at Hershey Park. Her goal was to become an elementary school teacher. She graduated in 1969 and taught for thirteen years. She instilled the same love of reading in her daughter and the desire to attend college. Now, being able to financially help other aspiring teachers, she named her scholarship in memory of her mother who inspired her during her years at Ship.
