Rick and Georgena Ruth
Dr. Rick E. Ruth became a faculty member, administrator and member of the Executive Management Team, serving Shippensburg University for 36 years. Georgena M. Ruth, a non-traditional alumna of Shippensburg University (Business Administration), earned an MBA from Frostburg University and served as an adjunct faculty member.
Rick and Georgena believe in public higher education and the critical role it plays in shaping society. Both were first-generation graduates of public higher education institutions. Their sons, Bryan (1998, Criminal Justice) and Matthew (2003, Computer Science) are Ship alumni as well.
They also believe each individual has a community responsibility. Following these beliefs, both Rick and Georgena served on various community and regional volunteer boards. Their success in life pursuits enabled them to provide their endowed scholarship so students can make a difference for themselves, their families, and their community.
